CHARITY PROCEEDS FROM THE TOURNAMENT

The Badger Mutual Insurance/Brown Deer Women's Amateur Golf Tournament provides a quality competitive event for amateur women golfers and raises funds to benefit the needs of other women and children in our community.

This year the tournament continues to support Lissy's Place, a shelter for young women who are discharged from the child welfare system at age 18 without the adequate life skills or support networks to live independently.  Lissy's Place offers its residents the opportunity to increase their level of formal education and learn personal management and occupational skills in a safe and nurturing environment.  The goals of the program are to guide these women toward a successful transition to self-sufficiency and move them to permanent housing.  The tournament has expanded its charity baseto give some support to Belle Resource Center for Women and Children which is a shelter for homeless women of domestic violence who are helped to achieve the necessary skills to reach self-sufficiency. This includes assistance in setting goals, obtaining health care, housing and employment.

All proceeds from the tournament, including raffle and silent auction funds, are donated to these charities.  Any golfer wishing to make an additional donation is welcome to bring a check to the Awards Luncheon on the second day of the tournament.
